From the Sec. Desk
Brethren, I thought spring had sprung. However, I am writing May’s bulletin in my winter sweats and it is 39 degree’s outside. Are we ever going to get out under this year’s winter? I don’t think so. Brethren, I would like to clear up a little confusion. I no longer have a cell phone. I can be reached at anytime at (Home) 253-5864 or (Work) 667-2428 x210. I want to take a moment to thank Grotto for the generous contribution to our new phone system. Hopefully, the Temple Board will be paying for it in the near future. Also, the Easter Egg Hunt was a lot of fun. My wife and I and the grandchildren had a blast. The food, entertainment and the fellowship were great. These are the things we must keep supporting and attending whenever possible. The spaghetti dinner put on for Special Olympics was delicious and for a worthy cause. I am not sure of the monies taken in. Brethren, we should all contribute to these special dinners if possible whether you can or cannot attend. It can be frustrating for those taking their time and effort to have these events and not get enough people to show up or contribute to even pay for the food. We must show our support and make sure these special events and dinners continue in the future. Not that they are in Jeopardy .We also must do the same for our Stated Meeting dinners and the food prepared by the Junior and Senior Steward’s for our degree work. We need to take care of those people who take care of us. It can get expensive. I know I have been there. Don’t for get the pantry barrels are in need of canned food. Please bring a can or two. Beaver Valley 753 will hold its annual awards night on MAY 22, 2008 at 7:00P.M. I urge all to attend. This is an extra special evening and we to show these special Mason’s the respect they deserve and have earned. On June 19, 2008 at 7:00 Beaver Valley 753 will having its “Past Master’s night” and hopefully they will be putting on the Fellow Craft degree. Brethren, Our schedule is full through the end of June and still lots of work to do. June’s Stated Meeting Dinner will provide by Brother Bill Fair. The menu will be “Good Old Fried and Baked Chicken”. Please bring sides accordingly. "Master's wages". What are they? Today, the Free and Accepted Mason is concerned only with moral work. His reward, therefore, is found within himself. The spiritual wages go well beyond these and have countless worth. The very heart of being a Freemason and the joy received is a much more meaningful wage. The intangibles of love, friendship, respect, opportunity, happy labor and associations are the wages of a Master who earns them. Not all earn them, hence, the phrase "to pay the Craft their wages if any be due . . ." A member may earn as much as he desires, and the more one puts into the Craft, the more one receives.
Fraternally, Michael Fair, WM

From the Sec. Desk April: From the Master: Greetings Brethren,
What a winter this has been. I believe the winter’s in Ohio are getting much more severe each year. Again, we have toppled last years measured snowfall. The Grand Master’s Reception was cancelled by that lovely blizzard we had last month. Oh well enough said about that. Brethren we have great news. There is a phone again in the Temple. Beaver Valley Lodge, Beaver Valley Chapter, and Ormus Grotto joined together to get this phone. The number is 937-426- 6551. You can always find it in the upper left hand corner of the bulletin on the front page. Brethren, I no longer have a cell phone. So if you have to get a hold of me please call me at home (937-235-5864) or work (937-667-2428).
Due to Holy Week last month we have had to re-schedule some degree work for April. Looks like April will be very busy. That’s a good thing.
Brethren, I will be in Florida the week of April 19 thru 27 on vacation. Hopefully, I will come back. I can still be contacted on my cell phone during that week.
I am pleased with the ideas and suggestions the brethren have come up regarding the special events discussed in this months Stated Mtg. Now we need to act on them. This will give Beaver Valley 753 greater opportunities for further visibility in the community and hopefully, dispel some of the “ Myth’s of Free Masonry”. Hopefully, we will pick up some new members. We will also be having our annual Awards Night and a special meeting to put on a degree entitled “The Empty Chair Ceremony.” that has just been approved by the Grand Lodge. Thanks WB George O'Bryan for your commitment in taking your time to address the Grand Lodge on this issue. Dates and times of all events will be forthcoming.
I want to take a minute to thank Brother SS Benny Johnson in the extra effort he gives of his time in preparing the candidates for examination. Benny I don’t know what I would do without your help. Also, I want to thank SS Benny Johnson and JS Brian Arnold for the great job working together as a team preparing and keeping our bellies full after the Degree work. Thanks. I also want to thank Kay Cohen for that delicious dinner last month. It truly was a treat. Kay has asked me to inform the lodge the food barrels for our pantry is drying up. The barrels are by the door entrance. Please Brethren, bring in a can or two or three and lets overfill the barrels. That’s the least we could do. Brother J.D. Phil Sizemore will provide May’s Stated Mtg. Dinner. The main dish will be Chicken Tetrazzini.
On April 3rd we will have a guest speaker at our Stated Meeting from the Benevolent Endowment Foundation, Inc. The speaker is Bro. Kenneth E. Hershberger. He is the Director of Planned Giving. He has an interesting presentation in store for you. Please come and listen to him. Brethren, lots of work ahead of us. I look forward to the challenges the next few months and working with the brethren to help make our lodge the best it can be. Brethren, If you have any questions, problems, etc…. please feel free to call me at anytime. If I do not know the answer I will find out.
